What has to be taken into account at vaccinations?

The reasons at which vaccination can be foreseen by one are the followings:

• Your child suffers from an acute illness in need of treatment with a high fever.
• The child gets medicines (corticosteroids) or a chemotherapy, which weaken the immune system.
• Your child has a heavy defect of the immune defense ("B or T cell defect").
• Your child was recently treated with blood products or blood (for example blood transfusion or immunoglobulins).
• Your child stands in front of a planned operation. You shouldn't vaccinate to the OP also 14 days.

Helpful vaccinations cease due to misunderstandings often. Talk to your physician about it. According to consultation with the physician, perhaps you can vaccinate if:

• Your child at an acute illness in need of treatment without fevers suffers.
• Your child has an allergy against a share of the vaccine (chicken egg-white allergy). Vaccinations against yellow fever, influenza, FSME and a certain rabies vaccine should be left out at a proved heavy chicken egg-white allergy.
• Caught your child presumably has that is in the incubation period if no disease specific symptoms appear yet. Straight at rabies, hepatitis B and tetanus is particularly important to vaccinate short time after possible causative agent contact since only in such a way heavy illnesses or the death can be avoided. Such incubation vaccinations are recommended also at veins, mumps, rubellas and chickenpoxes.

You may vaccinate:

• how whooping cough or Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type B) is at a light diarrhea or common cold, more important because a protection at full term from heavy illnesses.
• even if you calm. The specific safety which vaccinations offer against special shoots neither is influenced by calming nor makes it to vaccinations ineffective.
• at allergies against house dust mites or pollen (hay fever). These allergies aren't aimed at the components of vaccines. (Caution however at heavy chicken egg-white allergies!)
• at early given birth. The STIKO recommends the vaccination just for you in addition against pneumococci (pathogene of a lung inflammation, otitis media, meningitis () and paranasal sinusitis), for example
• at the inclination of children towards fever spasms. On advice of your physician you can meet the spasms by corresponding antipyretic agentses and diazepam-rectinolen. You know of the possible occurrence of fever at a vaccination. The probability is greater at a natural infection that fever appears than at a vaccination.
• despite antibiotic medical treatment. Antibiotics don't influence the effectiveness of vaccinations.
• with chronic illnesses (also metabolic diseases) or children with heart defects. Being recommended to vaccinations just for these risk groups.
• at chromosome anomalies. Children with a Down's syndrome or other chromosomally conditional diseases can be vaccinated completely normally.
• at contact to people with a weakened immune system. The used vaccinating causative agents cannot infect this risk group.
• if cortisone is used locally therefore on the skin or by inhalation. The active substance only influences the effectiveness of protective vaccinations when it is taken in higher concentrations and over for some time.
• at spasm sufferings.
