Changes of the womb mucosa during the cycle
The womb mucosa is thin just after the menstruation. The hormone estrogen results in a nutritious mucosa layer supplied with blood growing up in the first cycle phase. During the second cycle phase the hormone then causes progesterone a breaking up of the mucosa. With the help of the two hormones the womb mucosa is prepared optimally for the nest of the stimulated ovum (zygote). If no nest of the zygote takes place, the upper layers take themselves off. The menses starts. The mucosa rebuilds in the next cycle.
